Reflections

Reflections on the past, present and future.

Have you ever looked back at someone or some moment in your life and either smiled or cringed?! I was reflecting different moments of my life and I realized certain people represented different mirrors and reflections of myself. The memories turned away from the actual people and turned to me looking into a mirror.

I took a glance back at my elementary years and can see the mirrors of innocence and uncertainty all surrounded in awe. I move to the junior high years and see the reflections of insecurity and defense. As I reminisce about the High school years people begin to wear the mirrors as I look at them. I see one who wore the mirror of immaturity, one who wore “freedom”, and another who had on self-doubt. These faces and places of mirrors continue to grow in my memories and it causes me to reflect upon them.

Many times before, taking this glance back, has caused frustration and unnecessary pain. There have been so many times where I have blamed the person or the situation. Now I look back and see so clearly they each represented something that I was personally dealing with. So many of those memories and those relationships could have gone so differently if only I had paid attention to my own selfishness and issues that were residing in my heart.

Growth comes with time but growth can truly only happen with a heart surrendered to God. God is the only key to unlock the selfless and secure heart. Growth will prayerfully happen until the day we are gone from this earth. My prayer is that the reflections begin to change as we take a glance at the past. I want to look back and see someone sanctified by God’s grace and who daily leans on the Word of God rather than the word of my own heart.

So I am sorry to those that wore those mirrors of the past. Thank you for helping me learn to grow but thank you to the Lord for your grace, love and forgiveness. ❤️

Entering into this Christmas season with FAITH and TRUTH

As we enter this holiday season, we taken in all of the beautiful sights, smells and sounds and it is hard not to get lost in the feeling of it all, but we must remember that the story of this Christ child was not born of feelings but of faith and truth. We by faith and by truth know that this child, born in Bethlehem, is our Savior, the One who came to reconcile our debt of sin, in order that we might have eternal life after earthly death.

From my reading this morning: “A person is saved by trusting in the finished work of Christ on the cross, and not by bodily sensations and religious ecstasy. But you will say, “What about feeling? Is there no place in saving faith for feeling?” Certainly, there is room for feeling in saving faith. But we are not saved by it. Whatever feeling there may be is the result of saving faith, but feeling never saved a single soul. Love is feeling. Joy is feeling. Inward peace is feeling. Love for others is a feeling. Concern for the lost is a feeling. But these feelings are not conversion. The one experience that you can look for and expect is the experience of believing in Christ.”-Billy Graham

🚂 Don’t let your feelings be your engine or they will derail you, run your track with faith and truth and you will see that when you “think you can’t”, you actually can!🚂

“That person”

Don’t you hate being known as “that person”?

“That person”, the one who loses it at the end of the day in tears. “That person”, the one who loses it because of someone else’s actions. “That person”, the one who everyone is waiting to see when the fuse will be lit. “That person”, the one who they expect some kind of reaction from. “That person”, who collapses due to insecurities and weakness.

What if I could be known as “that person” who is known for the positive instead of the negative?

“That person”, who overcomes the day. “That person”, who rises above the challenging person. “That person”, who doesn’t accept defeat but accepts victory through grace, kindness and love in response. “That person” who smiles in the face difficulty.

I so desire to be “that person” who exemplifies Christ’s grace, mercy, love, kindness, and forgiveness. I also desire to be “that person” who exemplifies Christ’s strength in me where I do not fall apart and I do not crumble in my own insecurities. The only way I can truly be victorious is through Him so I can become “that person” who He has created me to be, not who I have created, in and through  Christ, His strength will be seen.

Look for me, I am going to become “that person.”
